Hear Ye, Hear Ye one and all… The Princess has turned one year old!
This past weekend we celebrated my baby girl’s first birthday by having a party with our family. It was a small gathering, but nonetheless a festive one. I’m embarrassed to admit that with my Little Lady turning one I procrastinated until the last minute to plan the details for her party. With only a few days to shop and organize I relied on mostly store bought details with a few exceptions.
A homemade tutu made a great party dress for the Princess. It was really a simple project and with the exception of the premium glitter tulle, relatively inexpensive. I believe it cost about $17 for all of the materials. 5 yards of tulle, elastic banding, and a roll of ribbon. I did use a 40% off Joann’s coupon for the $5.99 per yard added sparkles! I know that big box stores have decent tulle for as little as 99 cents a yard for a cheaper alternative. I tweaked this tutorial a bit using elastic banding and stitching a ribbon to the finished piece.
Considering that the Princess would not touch her cake and all my photos of her with it she is bawling her eyes out, I’m glad I didn’t put anymore effort into decorating it. She didn’t want anything to do with this giant piece of chocolate goodness. She doesn’t even know what she’s missing out on, poor girl. Instead of putting a burning flame within her reach, I opted for a magic wand in place of a candle. Though I would almost bet that a candle would have enchanted her enough to get a photo or two of her without tears.
Homemade cupcakes were the treat of the day. Using this awesome tutorial made it so simple. I opted for chocolate bottoms and added drops of food coloring to create a pink upper half to each sweet treat. They were delish!
Pretty jars with yummy candies, more magic wands, glass slippers, feather boas, and if you look really close you may just find a frog prince in the midst of it all. Festive decorations!
A photo scrapbook celebrating the Princess herself topped off the decor. She’s most loved and such a blessing to our family! Rocking her to sleep tonight, remembering the day she came into our lives a year ago, I am overwhelmed with my love for her majesty.

I think you did a great job for last minute! I love the star wands ;o)
